Phase 10 – Binding
Phase 10: Binding & Polish
Finalizing Assignment 2 & Production Handover
The Goal: Binding & Polish
Phase 10 is the final push for Assignment 2. This phase is dedicated to "Binding"—the professional collation of your artifacts into a cohesive Pre-Production Bible.
We are applying the industry formatting standards you researched in Assignment 1 to ensure your package is of professional delivery quality.
Simultaneously, we are moving the digital infrastructure from planning sheets into Autodesk Flow, connecting tasks to artists to prepare for the high-fidelity production cycle.
1. Narrative Stream (The Line Lock)
Storyboards and scripts move from "Draft" status to a locked, submission-ready state.
- Line Lock: Finalize all storyboard line art. These must be formatted into industry-standard storyboard layouts for the Dossier.
- Script Approval: Iterate the script based on final storyboard changes until approved.
- Tonal Shift: Begin progressing line boards to grey-tonal rendering of backgrounds to feed the animatic development.
2. Animatic Stream (Multiplane & Motion)
Transitioning from flat storyboards into a 2.5D temporal space.
- Multiplane Setup: Move line board animatics into a multiplane environment.
- Acting Ruffs: Rough out primary actions and gestures to validate timing before final cleanup.
- Camera Revision: Identify camera animation and revise backgrounds to accommodate specific pans, trucks, or zooms.
3. Exemplaire Stream (Flow Integration)
Moving the project into a live, collaborative production environment.
- Flow Realization: Realize all Tasks, Assets, and Shots within Autodesk Flow based on your locked Shot Planner.
- Task Pipelining: Connect specific tasks to team members. Establish dependencies (what needs to be finished before the next task can start).
- Scheduling: Lock in the production schedule to ensure a realistic path to the June 7 deadline.
⚠️ Individual Moderation: SparkPlus (POSTPONED)
Notice: Due to the ongoing Canvas global outage, the SparkPlus Peer Review portal opening has been delayed until the end of the semester.
Please focus on your production milestones for now. Further instructions on the revised moderation timeline will be provided once systems are restored.
Phase 10 Review Conversations
Mentors will be auditing the professional "binding" of your submission package:
- Narrative: Are the storyboards formatted to industry standards (project label, sequence/scene/shot numbers, layout and contextual framing)? Is the script "Locked" for production?
- Animatic: Does the multiplane setup allow for the intended camera motion? Are the ruff animations clear enough to communicate performance intent?
- Production: Are all tasks in Flow assigned to an appropriate artist? Does the schedule capture the full extent of the production cycle?
